Unit chief of community microfinance arrested for ‘quilting’ microfinance money by showing loan flow

Kathmandu. Police have arrested Santosh Magar, chief of a branch of a community microfinance institution. Magar was arrested on the charge of misappropriating funds of the organization when he was the branch chief.

According to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, 27-year-old Magar of Fi kkal Rural Municipality- 1 of Sindhuli was arrested by a special team from Kamalamai Municipality -5 in Sindhuli district. 

According to the police, Magar had filed a complaint against Whangel on behalf of the organization for misappropriating money by showing that he was working in various branches of the microfinance company, including Salleri.

On the basis of the same complaint, the Biratnagar High Court had issued an arrest warrant against Magar .Magar was arrested from Sindhuli and taken to Solukhumbu after receiving information about the complaint, police said. Police said that the police have extended the custody of the arrested M agar by seven days as per the Banking Offence and Punishment Act, 2064 BS.
