Kathmandu. The 13th annual general meeting of Forward Microfinance Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha has re-appointed Bhagawati Chaudhary as its chairperson. Chaudhary, who is also the founding president of the organization, has been re-elected to the post of president.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Director Shailendra Regmi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chaudhary, who is active in the social service and financial sector, advancing the issues of rural economy, women empowerment, youth empowerment and self-employment. On the occasion, Chaudhary pledged to work actively to enhance the prestige of the microfinance company along with achieving the aspiration, objectives and goals of the microfinance.

Chaudhary, who has been disseminating social awareness along with environment, sanitation and social awareness to women in the villages through the Rural Women Curiosity Development Forum, also ran a financial literacy program. Chaudhary had established Forward Microfinance after the government opened the way for NGOs to become financial intermediaries.

Currently, Forward Microfinance has been providing financial services to 284,057 poor families of 382 local levels in 40 districts of the country through 159 branches.
