Kathmandu. The government has banned strikes in the banking sector. The government has banned the strike in 25 essential services including the banking sector following widespread complaints that services have been affected in the name of excessive strikes and agitations.

The government has prohibited strike in 25 essential services by exercising the powers given by clause 3 (1) of the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014.

According to a notice published in the Nepal Gazette by the Ministry of Home Affairs, there will be no strike service in banking service, insurance service, post, telegraph or telephone service.

Likewise, any service of the Government of Nepal Defense Arrangement related to the maintenance, operation and repair of airports or aircrafts, services related to the transportation or storage, transportation or transportation of goods to the government warehouse, the service related to printing or government printing services, the production, storage and distribution of arms, ammunition or any other military goods will not be allowed to strike.

Likewise, communication services, internal security services, operation and distribution of drinking water, tourism accommodation, motels, hotels, restaurants and resorts, import, transportation, storage and distribution of petroleum products (including LP gas), services related to the operation of hospitals and health centers (such as ambulances), services related to the sale and distribution of medicines, collection, transportation, processing, disposal, site construction, infrastructure construction and collection site and management services, Strikes are prohibited in the electricity service.

Apart from these, the government has also prohibited the strike in the import, transportation, storage and distribution of daily essentials (food grains, lentils, rice, salt, oil), weather forecasting, flood forecasting and early warning services, mask-related services, hand sanitizer services, veterinary services, services provided by the Department of Consular Services, services provided by the Department of Passports and internet services.
