Kathmandu. The National Council for Protection of Child Rights has asked students not to cut their hair forcibly. In a statement, the council has asked schools and teachers not to forcibly cut the hair of students . 

Complaints have been received in the last few days alleging that students have been forcibly cut off their hair in schools, and the council has said that such an act would be against the clause (2) of Section 66 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child Act, 2075 (d). According to the council, such acts will amount to violence against children and crimes.

According to the Council, a fine of Rs 50,000 and imprisonment up to one year will be imposed as per the sub-section (3) clause (a) of Section 72 of the same Act.
