Structural reforms of NEPSE to be implemented report of committee led by SEBON, Rameshwor Khanal

Kathmandu. The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) is to initiate the process of structural reforms and technical strengthening of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). As per the directive of the Ministry of Finance, preparations have been started to implement the report of the committee led by Rameshwor Khanal. Gopal Prasad Bhatta has informed that the committee has started the process of implementing it. Gopal Prasad Bhatta has informed that the committee is preparing to implement it.

Speaking at the Finance Committee of the Federal Parliament on Wednesday, Chairman Bhatta said that Nepse’s cybersecurity, IT system, good governance and institutional capacity improvement have been given priority. According to him, the restructuring process will be initiated after holding discussions with the board of directors of NEPSE from next week.

Similarly, the process of implementing the 21-point directive received from the Ministry of Finance for the reform of CDS and Clearing Limited (CDSC) has also started. Chairman Bhatta said that there is a plan to develop CDSC as a ‘Central Counter Party’ in the future.

The board is also preparing to develop the necessary infrastructure to introduce new instruments such as intraday trading, short selling, and derivatives in the Nepalese capital market. These new arrangements are expected to bring about a drastic change in the ecosystem of the Nepali capital market.
