Kathmandu. The Department of Labor and Business-Related Security Department has directed the workers to provide compulsory festival expenses. The Department has directed all employers and establishments to provide compulsory festival expenses to the workers as per Section 37 of the Labor Act-2074.

According to the department, the directive was issued after some people complained that the workers were not paid the festival expenses.

The Department has directed the government to provide a basic amount equivalent to one month’s allowance that workers receive for the festivals celebrated as per the prevailing religion, culture and tradition.

The department has also requested to file a complaint with the Department of Labor and Employment or Business Security Department if the employer or establishment does not pay for the festival. Complaints can be made via email.
