Kathmandu. Doctors and nurses have demanded that be given two days off a week.Although the government has announced two public holidays in a week (Saturday and , doctors and nurses have demanded that should be given two days a week. 

The government had decided to give public holidays on Saturday and Sunday in view of the fuel crisis.

However, the Ministry of Health and Population had directed the provincial and subordinate hospitals to operate OPD services on Sunday after receiving complaints that the health service would be disrupted due to public holidays two days a week. 

Doctors and nurses have called the decision of the Health Ministry not to stop the service when the government decides to give a public holiday as a discriminatory decision of the state. 

They have demanded that all employees should be given equal treatment and facilities and the government should implement the two-day holiday of (Saturday and Sunday) in the health sector.
