Kathmandu. Tribhuvan University ( TU) has directed the professors and employees who have not returned to the service of the university within 15 days.
Issuing a public notice TU Academic Leave Management, the Implementation Committee has urged the teachers/employees who have not returned to service as per the rules of the university after consuming the study leave and have left the service without completing the stipulated period to contact the office of the committee .
It has been made clear in the notice that legal action will be initiated as per the agreement and rules made with the university if they do not come in contact with within the stipulated time.
TU has so far refunded more than Rs 11.84 crore from 50 professors who did not return to service after taking study leave. This process has been initiated at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the active participation of TU.
The university has stated that the study leave is a special facility for the purpose of providing skilled, research-oriented and international standard academic manpower.However, TU has caused financial, educational and academic loss to the university as some professors have not returned to service after completing their studies by misusing the study leave.
The TU has reminded that there is a provision that the professors utilizing the leave facility have to fulfill their service obligations as per the agreement and the process of recovering the remaining amount will be continued.
