Kathmandu. Public transport fares have been reduced. The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has slashed public transport fares by 2 percent following a sharp drop in fuel prices.

However, the current reduced public transport fare is very low. 

According to the department, the price of diesel has decreased by Rs 43 per liter.Previously, the average price of diesel was Rs 235 .8 3 per litre. The average market price of diesel has now come down to Rs 192.83 (. 

In this way, the fare rate should have been reduced by a lot more in line with the reduced fuel prices. However, the department has said that the vehicle fare has been reduced by only 2 percent now as the fare has not increased as much as it should have been increased earlier.
