159 manpower companies fined Rs 50,000 for flying Nepalis abroad via India

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A total of 159 manpower companies have been taken action for sending Nepali workers abroad through Indian airports. The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) has taken action against the government for violating Article 22 of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064.

According to the Department of Foreign Employment, action has been taken to warn them for the first time.

Similarly, the Department had asked for flight details of the workers who went abroad with work permit from Chaitra 2082 to Jestha 2083 to study whether or not the ÷law requiring 1,117 MW power companies to use domestic airports was not followed.

According to the department, only 678 manpower companies had submitted the details. Among them, 159 companies have been found sending Nepali workers abroad without taking permission from Indian airports.

Out of 1,117 licensed institutions in operation, only 678 have submitted the requested details. Among the organisations that have submitted the details, 159 have been found sending workers using airports in India without the approval of the Department. For the first time, the department has directed the companies that do not submit the details to submit the details.

Similarly, the department has slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each to eight manpower companies for repeatedly violating the rules.
