Kathmandu. After the two-day holiday in a week, other public holidays will be cut. The government has decided to form a task force to review the existing public holidays .
The secretary-level meeting held after the appointment of Govinda Bahadur Karki to the post of Chief Secretary took the decision. Issuing a press release after the meeting, Chief Secretary Karki said that the task force has been formed to review the number and relevance of other public holidays , with the implementation of the provision of giving two days a week (Saturday {{} and and Sunday).
According to Karki, the task force will be formed under the coordination of the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.The taskforce will study and decide on reducing public holidays.
The taskforce will include representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperative s, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and Ministry of Finance.The taskforce will be given 15 days to study and prepare a report on the review of public holidays. After the study, the taskforce will have to submit its report to the Home Ministry.
