Kathmandu. The equality fee charged on education and health will be refunded within 15 days. Publishing a notice in the gazette, the government has decided to return the education and health parity fees collected so far within 15 days.
According to the notice published in the Gazette, a provision has been made to waive the education and health parity fee completely by exercising the power given by sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the Finance Act for the current fiscal year.
Prime Minister BalendraShah had announced to scrap the 3 percent parity fee on education and health on July 21 following widespread protests against the government’s decision to impose 3 percent parity fee on education and health.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on July 23 had decided to scrap the fee as per the announcement.Now, the equity fee charged so far in education and health will have to be refunded to the concerned payer within 15 days. If the fee is not refunded within the stipulated time, the amount has to be deposited in the Consolidated Fund .
