Kathmandu. A compensation of one million US dollars should be given to the family of the deceased in case of an internal air crash. This provision has been proposed in the Domestic Airlines Liability Act, 2083. Previously, the compensation limit was $20,000. 

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has already registered the proposal federal in the parliament. 

The Act also states that while handing over the body of the deceased in an air accident to the family, at least five lakh rupees should be provided immediately for the funeral.This amount will be adjusted from the final compensation. 

Similarly, the airline company concerned should bear the entire medical expenses of passengers or third parties injured in air accidents. Compensation for mutilation or other bodily harm up to a maximum of one hundred thousand U. S. dollars must be paid.

On the other hand, the bill proposes to provide compensation up to $500 at the rate of $20 per kilogram for the loss, destruction or damage of passengers’ baggage.

The Act also proposes that passengers can claim compensation if the flight is delayed or canceled due to the negligence of the airline company and the concerned airlines should pay compensation.
