Kathmandu. 8 people, including an inspector of Nepal Police, have been arrested on the charge of gambling. Inspector Pradip Poudel and Chairman of Sakhuwa Prasauni Rural Municipality Jaswant Yadav have been arrested from a casino in Birgunj.

The police raided the Golden Finger Gaming Zone Pvt Ltd at Gandak of Birgunj Metropolitan City-14 acting on information that Nepalis were involved in gambling.

The arrestees have been identified as Inspector Pradip Poudel, Chairman of Sakhuwaprasauni Rural Municipality-6 in Parsa, Jaswanta Yadav, 30, Chandan Sahani, 30, and Om Prakash Baitha, 39, of Birgunj Metropolitan City-11.

Likewise, four employees were also arrested on the charge of allowing Nepali citizens to enter the casino and indulging in gambling, according to the District Police Office.

The arrestees have been identified as Bijay Kumar Patel (28) of Birgunj-14, Dinesh Kumar Patel (31) of Birgunj-25, Jayadev Sah (49) of Mahottari Pipara Rural Municipality-5 and Provincial Sah (50) of Birgunj-12.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Malla said that further investigation into the case is underway.
