Sheep and mountain goats have started entering Pokhara for Dashain, 40,000 each! (Photos)

Kathmandu. As the Dashain festival is approaching, sheep and mountain goats from the mountainous districts have started entering Pokhara. Min Prasad Bohara has arrived in Pokhara with mountain goats from Dolpa in the first ‘ lot’ of this year. He has put mountain goats worth Rs 21,000 to Rs 40,000 on sale in Pokhara’s Simpani Jaubari.

He has been continuously coming to Pokhara with sheep and mountain goats for the last three years and this year he has brought 100 sheep and mountain goats to Pokhara. Traders estimate that around 10,000 more sheep and mountain goats will enter Pokhara from mountainous districts like Mustang, Bajhang, Humla, Dolpa and other places this year.

Some traders bring sheep and mountain goats to Pokhara by walking, some by putting them in vehicles. Due to the rain from September 22 to 11, the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road section is not possible to bring sheep and mountain goats from Mustang to Pokhara this year as like the previous years.
