Kathmandu. Kulman Ghising, chairman of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, has said that the local level elections will not be held . He said this while talking to media persons at the Election Commission.

He said that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) should implement its commitment to ensure voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad. Ghising said that if the issues raised by his party are implemented, the party should give priority to independent candidates instead of the symbol in the local level elections.

Kulman has made it clear that the Ujyalo Nepal Party will not run away from the election and will put pressure on the government for the non-party election.

Ghising claimed that the RSP has mentioned in its manifesto and commitment letter to make the local level elections non-partisan. He said that the local representatives should be accountable to the people rather than the political parties regarding education, health, infrastructure and daily service delivery. He said that the local level elections should be non-party to end the financial manipulation in the distribution of party tickets and the people’s representatives have to follow the instructions of the party.

Ghising has demanded the government to amend the necessary laws and formulate rules and implement the provision before the upcoming elections. Ghising also said that the main commitment of his party is to ensure the voting rights of Nepali citizens who are abroad for employment, study or other reasons. He said that during the last elections, the interim government had difficulty in arranging voting for Nepalis living abroad due to lack of time, Parliament and legal process.
