Kathmandu. A new operation theatre building constructed at the Rapti Eye Hospital in Dang with the financial assistance of the Government of India has been inaugurated.

Counsellor at the Embassy of India, Gitanjali Brandon and Mayor of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Tikaram Khadka, jointly inaugurated the two-storey operation theatre building of the hospital located at Tulsipur Sub-metropolis-4 in Dang district.

According to the Indian Embassy, the building has been constructed under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). The project was implemented by Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City. This is the seventh high impact community development project to be completed in Dang district.

On the occasion, Mayor of Tulsipur Sub Metropolis, hospital management and other stakeholders appreciated the development assistance provided by the Government of India and expressed their confidence that the new infrastructure will make a significant contribution to provide quality eye services to the people of this area.

So far, around 600 projects have been implemented in seven provinces of Nepal under the High Impact Community Development Project (HCDP). Among them, 66 projects are in operation in Lumbini Province and seven in Dang Province.

Similarly, the Government of India has so far provided 169 ambulances and 59 school buses to the health and education institutions of Lumbini Province. Dang district alone has received 19 ambulances and eight school buses. Earlier, in January 2022, an ambulance was gifted to Rapti Eye Hospital.

The Embassy of India in New York stated that the Nepal-India multidimensional development cooperation has been continually strengthened and will continue to support infrastructure development, health care and local development through High Impact Community Development Projects (HCDPs).
