Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has directed the concerned officials to prepare work plan on doubling inland revenue and implementing it effectively. Minister Sharma reminded that present work style could not contribute to country’s progress, so internal revenue must be boosted. He said it during a meeting with the Department of Inland Revenue in the ministry on Thursday. Minister Sharma assured the officials of assistance as human resources, technology and training so that they could meet the revenue target.
Similarly, the Department was asked how it could build a culture where taxpayers were attracted to tax pay. “The atmosphere for them should be created in a way it encouraged them to pay tax,” he reiterated. According to the Minister, time has come to evaluate country’s property. “What about the monitoring of country’s property? What is the property citizen own and the property government owns? Plan to evaluate it is needed,” he said. On the occasion, Finance Secretary Madhukumar Marasini informed that revenue is the lifeline of national economy. The target of the revenue collection could be changed, he hinted. Secretary Marasini urged the revenue offices to go digital.
