The Nepal Telecom has expanded internet services in four districts in the east, Dhankuta, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur by laying optical fibre.
With the installation of the fibre, customers have availed fast internet and 4G service. Now, customers can have internet package ranging from up to 82,580 Mbps, said senior engineer Suman Acharya, chief of the NTC Dhankuta branch office. Internet has been expanded to Hile bazaar, Mulghat, Sindhuwa bazaar and Bhedetar bazaar in Dhankuta district, he said.
Similarly, the expansion in Pakhribas Municipality and Chaubise Rural Municipality in the district will be complete within the current fiscal year, it has been said. Internet has been expanded in Khandabari, Tumlingtar, Muheshanishare of Dharma Devi Municipality in Sankhuwasabha, and work on installing optical fibre in Chainpur Municipality will begin this year.
Internet speed of 100 Gbps has been set up from Itahari of Sunsari district, Hile of Dhankuta, Myanglung of Tehrathum, Phidim of Panchthar and Birtamod of Jhapa. In Dhankuta, 8,000 households have been using internet, 1,500 in Bhojpur, 2,000 in Sankhuwasabha and 1,500 in Tehrathum.
