The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO) has intensified its campaign to book traffic rule violators.
The KVTPO has mobilized special police teams and intensified traffic checking in all three districts of the valley-Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur-to prevent traffic offenses. KVTPO spokesperson Senior Superintendent Rajendra Prasad Bhatta said 1,527 drivers have been brought to book in the last 24 hours alone in the course of the special campaign.
Among them, 75 faced action for drunk driving, 21 for driving in the wrong lane, 12 for violating the traffic light signal, 17 for blowing the vehicle horn unnecessarily, 15 for not keeping the vehicle number plate, and 321 for over speeding.
Altogether, 1,527 people faced action in the last 24 hours, from 6 a.m. Monday until 6 a.m. today, including 1,066 for breaching an array of traffic rules, said the KVTPO spokesperson.
