The police have arrested two directors of the Suryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative for allegedly defrauding depositors by establishing a cooperative network.
According to the District Police Office in Kaski, both directors who were present at the Kaski District Court have been taken under control by the court. They were previously released on bail but were later found to have fled after the arrest warrants were issued by Interpol. They appeared in court on Tuesday, but after failing to give a statement, they were taken into custody by the police.
The former chairman of the cooperative, Gitendrababu (GB) Rai, along with other directors, are also facing arrest warrants for allegedly embezzling around 1.35 billion from the savings of 18,700 depositors of the cooperative. They are currently on the run.
In the embezzlement case of the cooperative, the police had previously imprisoned the vice chairman, Kailashkumar Darlami, and treasurer, Kumar Ramtel, for the same purpose.
