High Impact Community Development Project inaugurated in Mustang with Government of India assistance

Kathmandu. Mustang, June 3: A hostel building constructed for Lobo Nifug Namdrol Norbuling Monastery School has been inaugurated at Lomanthang rural municipality-1 in Mustang district with the financial assistance of the Government of India. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Nabin Srivastava and Lomanthang Rural Municipality Chair Tasi Nharbu Gurung jointly inaugurated the building on June 14.

The construction of the two-storey hostel building consisting of four blocks and associated structures is taken up as a high impact community development project and implemented through Lomanthang Rural Municipality, Mustang, according to a press release issued by the Embassy of India.

The Lobo Nifug Namdrol Norbuling Monastery School has played an important role in the preservation of local cultural heritage. Apart from Buddhist education, the school has also been providing quality curriculum in line with the education system of the Government of Nepal. Ambassador of India to Nepal Srivastava extended best wishes to all stakeholders for the project.

The Chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality, school management, and other stakeholders appreciated the development assistance provided by the Government of India. The new infrastructure will help improve the accommodation facilities and overall learning environment of the Lowo Nifug Namdrol Norwuling Monastery School, he added.

Since the inception of the High Impact Community Development Programme (HDDP), the Government of India has implemented nearly 600 projects covering all 7 provinces and 74 districts of Nepal. Among them, 63 projects are in various regions of Gandaki Province including 18 in Mustang district.

Over the years, the Government of India has gifted 11 ambulances and 6 school buses along with 126 ambulances and 52 school buses to various health and education organizations of Gandaki Province.

As close neighbours, India and Nepal enjoy extensive and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of the High Impact Community Development projects reflects the continued support of the Government of India to strengthen the efforts of the Government of Nepal to advance development and development and prosperity in priority areas, the embassy said.
