Transparency International has made public the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), in which Nepal has been ranked 108th with a score of 35, showing some improvement compared to last year.

Nepal has improved by one point in the Corruption Perceptions Index compared to last year. In the previous year, in 2022, Nepal was in 110th place with a score of 34. Similarly, in 2021, it was in 117th place with a score of 33.

According to Transparency International’s analysis of the status of corruption in 180 countries, Denmark is in first place with a score of 90 in countries with low corruption. Similarly, Finland is second, New Zealand is third, Norway is fourth, and Singapore is fifth. After that, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Luxembourg are in order.

Somalia is in 180th place with a score of 11 on the list. Similarly, countries such as Venezuela, Syria, South Sudan, Yemen, and others are on the list of countries with high corruption. Among Nepal’s neighboring countries, India is in 93rd place with a score of 39, and China is in 76th place with a score of 42.

Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index shows how corrupt the public sector of a country is. This index is prepared by analyzing data obtained from various institutions, such as the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, etc. Transparency International has mentioned that various types of surveys and investigations have been conducted to prepare this index.
